Organizing Internet Marketing Information

A topic that is rarely discussed in internet marketing circles is that of organizing all the internet marketing content one's hard drive.

The reason it doesn't seem very exciting is that "organizing" does not directly lead to "making money" - and most people just want the quickest way to making money.

But in my experience, internet marketers are in desperate need of a way to organize their content. I have customers of my organizational product who have GIGABYTES of information that is in just a complete jumble.

However, figuring out an effective organizational structure is not an easy task! In fact, it's pretty difficult.

Here is the first step needed to create an effective structure...

Separate out Reference material from Operational material.

Operational Content is what you use on a day-to-day basis for running your business. If you had an offline business, this would be what you keep in your filing cabinet or on your desk, or on the shelves in your office.

It's for your records and plans and reports and research and specifications and designs and so on. Things such as:

-Keyword lists that you are actually using
- Your business processes
-Your website
- Everything to do with the products you are currently selling or developing
- Records of affiliate programs and JVs you belong to
- Records of affiliate programs and JVs you offer
- Promotional material (articles, videos etc)
... and much more besides

Reference material is... everything else!

This includes:

- All resell rights, master resell rights and PLR material
- Any material that teaches you anything about internet marketing
- Any scripts or tools to help you run your business
- Any content that might be useful in building websites, such as graphics, templates plugins etc.
- Any lists of resources
- Anything related to niches (keyword lists, web templates, PRL ebooks etc.)

The relationship between reference material and operational content is simple...
If you're not using it on a specific project, it stays in the reference section, otherwise, it gets moved to the operational section.
